Welcome to AACC
The mission of the Towson University African American Cultural Center is to support, promote and enhance the university's commitment to multicultural education by providing activities and resources on issues and aspects of African American cultural life. With the integration of internal and external resources the center provides opportunities for leadership and cultural exploration for all Towson students and student groups. In particular, students of the African
Diaspora are afforded services that enhance their intellectual, academic, social and personal development in a place of cultural familiarity.
For more than 30 years the African American Cultural
Center (AACC) has served as an "oasis of cultural wealth" by providing programming and resources that allow
students, faculty/staff and visitors the opportunity to delve into the rich history, folkways, contributions and issues surrounding African American life. Housed on the third floor of the University Union in room 317, the AACC is a place of inclusion and prides itself on being a catalyst for interaction and discourse.
The university's location in the northeast corridor of Baltimore County makes the AACC a great resource for local scholars from surrounding universities, colleges and cultural arts institutions. The African American Cultural Center is equipped with a lounge area, study/meeting space and a resource library. The center serves as the meeting space for several student organizations and is available for reservation.
