Relationships Groups
One of the challenges of adulthood is to develop healthy relationships with others, especially peers. Students will meet to support each other in addressing issues facing college students and in discovering new ways of understanding themselves and relating to others. If interested, call the
Counseling Center at (410) 704-2512 to set up an informational meeting.
Substance Education Group
The intention of this program is to offer education about alcohol and other drugs, encourage personal awareness through discussion and to increase one's ability to self diagnosis a problem in these areas. Treatment:
The Substance Therapy/DWI Treatment Program is offered to those students who, as a result of abuse or dependence need educational information about chemical dependency and recovery, (1) are willing to commit to total abstinence, (2) are willing to seek support to completely abstain and (3) are going to learn about other non-chemical activities that are effective in their recovery.
Sexual Assault Survivor's Group
The Counseling Center in conjunction with Turnaround, is
offering a FREE support group to female survivors of sexual
assault. Students from any of the local colleges and
universities are welcome. The assault may be recent or
have happened years ago. A brief intake meeting is required
prior to the start of the group, which will be held at
Towson's Counseling Center.
Bereavement Support Group
The Counseling Center, is
offering a free support group to Towson University students who
are grieving the loss of someone significant in their lives.
The group meetings, which will be facilitated by a staff
psychologist, will provide an opportunity to meet with others
who are also grieving, and share experiences as well as coping
mechanisms. A brief intake is required prior to joining the
group, which is being held at The Counseling Center on
Wednesdays, 1:00 – 2:00 PM. This support group will be
open-ended, thus students can join throughout the semester.
