UNDERGRADUATE NON-DEGREE ENROLLMENT
Non-degree enrollment is the best choice
for visiting students
who wish to take a few courses for personal, professional
or academic reasons. Undergraduate Admissions does not
require transcripts or any other academic documentation to process a non-degree enrollment form.
Students must have graduated from
high school at least two years prior to attending TU. However,
exceptions are granted if you are currently
pursuing a degree at another college or university, and
notify us.
Returning Non-Degree Students
If you are a returning non-degree student (have not been continuously enrolled at TU), you must complete a new Undergraduate Non-Degree
Enrollment Form following each stop in enrollment.
Processing Time
It typically takes about a week to process a non-degree
enrollment form. Once processed, the Admissions Department will
e-mail you instructions on how to set up your online registration
account. If you have not received an e-mail from our office within
two weeks of sending in your form, please contact us at
410-704-2113 to
verify receipt of the form and to check on
processing status.
Registering for Courses
You are
permitted to register for most undergraduate courses, providing you meet all prerequisite requirements for
the course and registration is not restricted by the department.
In some cases, you may need to gain enrollment permission from
the professor and/or department before registration will be
allowed.
Earning Credit
Although you are attending in a non-degree status, you are a
student at Towson University. The courses you take will earn
credit at Towson University and the course work will appear on
the TU academic transcript. Non-degree students who wish to take a course but not earn
credit will need to choose the Audit grading option. However,
the tuition costs are the same even if the Audit grading option
is selected.
Tuition
Non-degree students are required to pay the same tuition rates as degree-seeking students. There are no discounts for courses taken with the Audit grading option.
Financial Aid
Please note that students attending in a non-degree status are not eligible for federal financial aid, including student loan programs.
Immunization Policy
Students planning to take more than one course at TU at any time must meet the university's immunization requirements. For more information about immunization records, please contact the Dowell Health Center at 410-704-2466 or Office of Admissions at 410-704-2113. The Health Form and Immunization Record is available online at the Dowell Health Center Web site.
